I thought that I would post an update here to let everyone know what is going on. Last week my brother was in a very bad car accident. He was hit by another car, and him and his passenger were thrown from his truck and then the truck ran them both over. Thankfully they are both alive. Unfortunately the passenger in the other vehicle was killed. It has been a roller coaster this past week. My brother Chris finally had surgery on his left leg and arm. Broken bones will heal, but he has been in a lot of pain. Chris will be in the hospital for 1-2 more weeks most likely. His passenger and friend Matt was released from the hospital on tuesday right after he had surgery on his ankle.

We went to the hospital to visit him a few times and ended up picking up a stomache bug that has put the three of us out of commission for the past few days. Thankfully Jake is feeling better today, and Tristan hasn't thrown up yet today. Phewww.

I am so glad that the holidays are over! Everything is just so busy! Tristan started the new year off with a bang - projectile vomiting 4 times yesterday. Poor guy! He is feeling a little better today, but still not himself.

I totally forgot to book the spay/neuter appointments for Remi's puppies until this morning! Thank goodness our vet is accomodating. He will do them next monday (the 9th) so they will be ready to go home that weekend, starting friday the 13th.

Cola had her puppies! She has 5 boys and 2 girls. I posted new pictures of JuJu's puppies on the website. Hopefully I will get new photos done of Remi and Mackenzie's puppies today as well!

I trust that everyone had an enjoyable holiday with family and friends! It was Tristan's first christmas and he was (as always!) the center of attention. He even unwrapped some of his presents! Of course the paper was often more interesting than the gift, but that didn't bother us! Jake and I got a video camera for christmas from my mom and it was the first gift to be opened. They had it all charged up and ready to go so we captured his first christmas on video!

The dogs and puppies are all doing great! Remi is now back with her guardian family and we are enjoying her little babies! Mackenzie's puppies barely move they are so fat. I hope that everyone saw their photos posted on the website. I didn't get a chance to post them here as well. Next time I will.

I am often asked how many dogs we have now so here is a roll call!

And the extras...we are babysitting Charlie, and we also have Remi's 8 puppies and Mackenzie's 9 puppies. All of our dogs HATE this weather. Why won't the ground freeze? I won't even ask for snow...just freeze the ground please! Everything is such a mess! The yards are so muddy, the dogs are so muddy, my house is a mess!

I still laugh when people say that they have a small house so they can only have a small dog. For those of you who have been to my house you can say that it is definitely small. One floor...1000 sq. ft. And my dogs are NOT little!

Last night JuJu had her puppies. She did not follow the typical labor patterns. Normally we know that a dog is close to delivering because they won't eat breakfast that morning. Not JuJu... My mom fed JuJu and put her on the deck to go to the washroom. A few minutes later my brother Gregory runs upstairs yelling "what is on the deck?" My mom says "relax it's just JuJu and a few friends going to the washroom". Gregory heard some crying and thought that it was a cat or something. Turns out...JuJu went outside and popped out a puppy! Right after she ate a big meal! Luckily the puppy was fine and JuJu had no further troubles delivering the rest of the indoors! In total she had 5 puppies - 2 chocolate males, 1 chocolate female, 1 apricot female, and 1 chocolate phantom female.

I am a little behind in photos of Remi and Mackenzie's puppies. Thanks for your patience...they will be taken and put up either wednesday night or thursday. There are just not enough hours in a day!

Yesterday was Tristan's half birthday. Yes I like to mark half birthdays! He was 6 months old! Today we were at the doctors for his 6 month needle and checkup. He didn't even cry when he got his little needle. The porker weighed 15 lbs 7 oz and was 26.5 inches long! Such a big difference from his 5 lb birth weight! Here are some pictures from yesterday!

The last few days have just run all together. No sleep is terrible!

Mackenzie had a very very long delivery. First pup came just before 10pm on wednesday night, with the 9th one being born at 9:20am thursday morning. All puppies were doing well and Mackenzie remains probably the best mom we've ever had. She would never lay down with one underneath her, and we never have to rescue one from behind her. She maneuvers herself just so, and makes sure all puppies are in the proper spots. It really is quite neat to watch her. I ended up going to bed at 6am on thursday morning and Jake took over. Of course the baby didn't want to sleep in, so he got up at 8am. And the day began...

Late thursday evening Mackenzie was really restless and then I saw her push again. It had been hours since the last puppy was born, and all of a sudden out pops another puppy around 11:30pm. We were able to revive the puppy and Jake stayed up through the night to try to get her to nurse and keep warm, but it wasn't meant to be.

So we have 9 healthy puppies. There are 5 girls and 4 boys. We were surprised by the fleece coats in the litter!

We are up with Mackenzie! This is the 3rd day of her not eating and 'nesting' - basically being in labor. She just had her 1st puppy! She is so large too she hasn't been able to get up without help today. In just a few hours she will be much thinner and able to actually walk around. I will post tomorrow with the finally tally.

My guess was 9 puppies, and Jake guessed 10. We shall see who wins...

Wow has it been almost 2 weeks since I last posted? Yikes, that means I haven't taken new photos. Boy life really takes over!

Puppies are doing great! Big and fat. All puppies are the same size, quiet, and content. I will take new pictures tomorrow and post them.

I can't believe that christmas is just over 3 weeks away! Lots of christmas shopping to do still. The last few years I have been very last minute and I'm trying not to leave my shopping until Christmas Eve again.

We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of our next litter of puppies. Mackenzie is due on December 11th and she is BIG! Unfortunately Lola is the opposite and is not having puppies this time around. We will keep our fingers crossed for next time!

The day started out pretty early for Jake. Luckily I got a few more hours of sleep. At 4am Remi started to have her puppies. She had her 8th and final one at 8:30. Quite a surprise really because they are all dark! Jake actually thought that everyone was black and that it was wishful thinking that we got any other color! Here they are all wet.

But when they dried it was much easier to tell...

We have 8 puppies - 6 black boys and 2 chocolate girls. They all have super soft silky fleece coats.

And because we can't leave him out...here are recent pictures of Tristan.

My mom, Tristan, and I are in California. We got into the hotel a few hours ago. We came here for a labradoodle breeders conference. We are very excited to visit with all of our breeder friends. You can only get to know people so much through the internet. It is great to meet everyone in person and put a face to a name!

I'm so happy that Tristan had a great flight. We were a little bit worried but he was a champ! We flew from Toronto to Denver, Colorado...he fell asleep right after take off and woke up after everyone but us had gotten off the plane! Then we had a 2 hour layover in Denver where he was happy as can be. He fell asleep while everyone was boarding the plane from Denver to LA and woke up when we were getting off the airplane.He is now in bed for the night in our hotel room in Santa Monica, CA. We will be here until tuesday night.

Jake is at home watching all of the doggies, and my sister has her hands full babysitting my mom's dogs.

We have a new litter coming from JuJu and Mighty. Mini chocolate and apricot puppies are expected.

Another thing that I wanted to update everyone on....we have found a home for Panda our husky. It was an extremely sad weekend for us but we know that it is the best thing for her. Our problems with our neighbors have not changed and even though we do plan to move in the spring, it is just not soon enough. Panda went to a family with 5 children and another husky! They hit it off right away and she now has 3 acres to run! It is always hard to think of rehoming one of your babies, but in this case we were really thinking about the best situation for Panda.

We have puppies come from Remi and Major. Their litter is due on November 18th. This will be a rainbow litter. Puppies should be 35-45 lbs full grown.

Lola and Mighty are expecting a litter as well. They are due on December 12th. This litter will be all chocolates around 30-40 lbs full grown.

Last but not least...Mackenzie and Mowgley are expecting puppies on December 11th. This litter will be all chocolates around 45-55 lbs full grown.

I need to keep reminding myself to continue posting and I definitely need to catch up on my website! Lots of pictures to update to the gallery, and a few new additions to the moms and dads page.

I want to introduce you to our newest additions. Meet Remi. Remi will be 2 January 1st. She is a medium sized black australian labradoodle. We had the opportunity to welcome her into our home and program and we just jumped at the chance. She has fit in so easily. Remi has also come into season and will be breeding to Major...hopefully on friday!

And because our house isn't full enough...meet Miami! Miami is an F3 australian labradoodle. She is one of Mickey's daughters, and for those of you that have seen Prudence, this is her little sister!

And because I love him so much... LOL you may notice that he doesn't look that happy in these photos. He was so tired but I just wanted to show my mom his hats!

I thought that I would share a photo from this summer. We had a lot of puppy sitting going on. On the far left in the back is Lucy. She is from Mocha and Mowgley. The large one beside her is her brother Mighty. And then the 2 little puppies in the front are from Missy and Mowgley. They found their forever homes just after this picture was taken!

It seems that the baby has taken over! Tristan turned 2 months old yesterday. He is growing up so quickly! We are quite lucky though because he sleeps alot!

The dogs are all doing well. We are puppy free for a while now. Our miniature litters are with my mom. They are going home this week and next. This note is short and sweet but I plan to be posting regularly now. Here are some new pictures of our little man!

First and foremost I wanted to thank everyone for their patience during the last 2 weeks. Our adventure started on Father's Day. Jake and I went in for an ultrasound and the doctors did not let me leave. The decided that an emergency c-section was necessary for our baby. So we made a few calls to our family and our little boy was born at 4:23 pm on sunday! Because he was 4 weeks early, we spent the next week and a half in the hospital with him. Just this past thursday we were all able to come home! The last few days have been amazing, but such an adjustment! Here is Tristan Michael Reimer!

This is a bit of a catchup entry. We have had some good and not so good doggie news this week.

First off, Minnie delivered 8 chocolate puppies on tuesday morning. There are 5 boys and 3 girls. I have been hounding my mom for a photo and will hopefully get one to post tomorrow!

And for the not so good news...we found out that Jersey is not expecting puppies. She has had a false pregnancy this time. She even got a saggy belly to throw us off. Her guardian family took her in for an ultrasound and there is nothing. Not much that we can do unfortunately. She did have us all fooled.

And now for photos of Lola's puppies. The first few pictures were taken last sunday. The puppies all decided to sleep in a rubbermaid bin that I used for a while to carry them outside in. Thankfully they know where they are supposed to go now and I don't have to push them around in the bin! I couldn't believe that they wanted to stay in there when it was so hot out. It may not seem like many puppies, however, that is all 10 of Lola's puppies in there, plus one of Mocha's. Can you say cramped and hot??? I kept waking them up and moving them out of there but they just wanted to go back in. Finally I just picked the bin up. It was like a hundred degrees outside and they are in a plastic bin!

We have a very busy weekend ahead of us. Mocha's puppies are all going home, and Lola's puppies will be chosen by their families as well.

We will be taking all new pictures of the puppies tomorrow and I will hopefully get them put up tomorrow evening. Lots of prep-work for the weekend, as everyone is getting another bath, nails trimmed, facial trim, bum trim etc. They need to look their best for the families!

Mocha's puppies all recovered very well after their spay/neuter. They were all back to their regular puppy selves that day. They are now enjoying playing with Lola's puppies and are actually very gentle with the little ones. When they really want to play hard they find one of their brothers or sisters because they are more their size!

We have not had any accidents in the house at night with Mocha's puppies for the past week and a half now. They are sleeping the entire night in their crate. We have started working with Lola's puppies in the crate and they are doing very well too. They go right to sleep as soon as we put them in their beds!

Mackenzie's puppies are just too fat to do anything really. They had a bath this morning and could have cared less. They are not even interested in eating a little bit of food right now because Mackenzie keeps them so well fed with her milk! They are always seen lying on their backs with their tongues hanging right out. Lazy little puppies!

Missy's new puppies!

It seems like our dogs love to have their puppies early! Last night we had my cousin Angelina and her boyfriend over for a BBQ. Missy decided that it would be a good time to start having her babies!

The puppies started coming around 8:30 pm and were all there by 2am. Jake stayed up with Missy and the babies because I was going to the Toronto Zoo today with the highschool that I taught at.

Jake was busy today looking after all of the puppies, both old and new! I was walking around the Toronto Zoo!

Back to the puppies...we have 9 puppies in total from Missy and Mowgley. They are all chocolates. There are 5 girls (all fleece) and 4 boys (1 curly, 3 fleece). Missy is a great mom and the puppies are doing very well. She is currently in our baby room because every other room is full!

Jake and I went to my mom's on sunday for the day. We brought Missy, Mona and Maggie with us. It was just a relaxing day. But oh my gosh did I ever want to steal JuJu and her puppies! They are so adorable and tiny! I wanted to take their pictures so I just thought that I would put them in my moccasin for their individuals! They fit perfectly in the shoes!

I can't believe how much rain we have had! Non-stop basically since last friday now! It has made it difficult now that we are really starting to train Mocha's puppies to go outside. They absolutely hated being out there even for a second with the wet grass. I'm out there holding an umbrella over them just so that they can have a quick pee! They have really gotten the hang of things today though.

Mocha's puppies will all be selected by their families on saturday. They are all such darlings!

Lola's puppies got their first taste of dog food today. They gobbled it up so fast too! A few minutes later they were all passed out, some in the empty food bowl even!

Today was picture day for the puppies. I'm surprised how easy it was. Sometimes the puppies don't want to cooperate, which usually has to do with their age. Lola's puppies should have been a little more difficult because they are at the 'we get spooked' age. Sounds can scare puppies at their age, but they thought it was fine! Mackenzie's are so fat and content that you can do anything to them and they won't move. And Mocha's are at the age where they want to pose for the camera!

Well it is definitely the time for puppies! JuJu had 5 beautiful mini puppies this morning. She has 4 boys and 1 girl. The girl is chocolate, and the boys, 2 are chocolate, 1 apricot, and 1 is a chocolate phantom. The phantom colouring looks just like a doberman or rottweiler - tan eyebrows, tan legs etc. We are just in shock that JuJu could have so many! She is such a little dog! We have been calling her the hippo for the last while though because she had such a big belly.

I will be taking all new pictures of Lola, Mackenzie and Mocha's puppies tomorrow. Hopefully my sister can send me some of JuJu's puppies because they are at my mom's house.

Whooops I'm a day late. I was just in shock over our new grass that we got yesterday. We haven't had grass in our front yard since we moved in, so this was a big change! Well...here are the new puppies at our house!

Well I won't keep you in suspense anymore. Mackenzie had her babies this morning. She has 7 in all - 4 boys and 3 girls. Mom and babies are resting comfortably in the living room.

Our house is in complete disarray. This is Jake's 'vacation' time. We aren't going anywhere though. We have so many projects that we are completing this week.

Our nursery is ready to be painted and will then be ready for the new floor and trim. Just a little bit more sanding to do. We emptied the contents of that room into our bedroom (it was previously used as a spare bedroom). So we can't move at all in our room our sleep in there even! We are sleeping on a mattress in the living room. That was wonderful seeing as last night Mackenzie was so restless and kept us up practically the entire night...she started delivery around 5am!

Our front yard is completely ripped up now and tomorrow we are installing our walk way, laying sod etc. I took before pictures and will take the after photos once we are finished. Needless to say our house and front yard are a complete mess. We have Mackenzie and babies in the living room, Lola and babies in the laundry room, Mocha and babies are in my office. Hopefully Mocha will finish weaning her puppies on friday or saturday and can go back home.

Honestly, our neighbors must think that we are nuts to have all of this going on...and they can't even see the inside of our house! We are going to start our painting tomorrow as tonight I am heading out for tutoring, and Jake is going to a coaches meeting for soccer tonight. I will post a photo of the new puppies tomorrow.

Mackenzie is definitely holding out. For what, I have no idea! She is all set up to have her puppies in our living room and we are literally just waiting here and twiddling our thumbs! Oh if it was only that simple! Still lots of work to do around the house and lots of puppies to look after!

Mocha's puppies have started eating and we are starting the weaning process slowly now. She loves to be with her puppies so it will probably be a bit difficult.

Lola's puppies are all doing well. I will take a new photo of them shortly. They do still look like brown blobs though! Not much action yet.

I just updated our upcoming litters page with information on a few more litters. That reminds me now that I forgot one litter, so I better put Jersey up there as expecting as well! My mom will be busy with all of her little mini puppies coming in June/July.

All of the puppies are doing well. Mocha's puppies are very content and don't do very much! They mostly just sit there and look pretty! Lola's puppies look like such a huge bunch! There are so many of them. Everyone is growing well. Lola just likes to stay with them which is really great.

We are still waiting for Mackenzie! She is really big and doesn't retrieve the ball as quickly as she used to! Missy is also getting larger. She had an ultrasound on tuesday and we saw puppies!

what an interesting Easter!

I guess in this line of 'work' you can never be surprised by anything. Due dates mean nothing! Yesterday was Easter Sunday...Happy Easter to all! We were having dinner at my mom's house at 4pm. Jake and I went for 1:00 so that we could finish painting our eggs there with everyone else. We decided to take Maggie (of course...she never misses an outing to my mom's house), Mowgley because he is going to have a date with one of my mom's dogs, and as an afterthought yesterday morning, we brought Lola. Lola is due on the 29th, but we figured that it's better to be safe than sorry.

An hour after we got to my mom's house Lola goes into a crate (door open...her decision) and starts panting. Really??!! The puppies started coming at 3:00! So throughout dinner we had a dog having puppies a few feet away. Everyone got to witness the 'miracle of life' yet again! My extended family was all there and very excited to see new puppies. Lola was a pro by the 4th puppy. She had settled down nicely and just kept doing her job. She had 8 puppies already when I took her outside to go to the washroom. It was 9:00 by now so I needed a flashlight just in case. Low and behold, she pees one out on the lawn. I quickly pick the little guy up and rush inside with him. He sticks out in the group too because he is sooo light! At 10:30 the last puppy came out. In total we have 10 puppies - 7 boys and 3 girls. Two of the puppies (male and female) have curlier coats, and the rest are very fleecey.

I ended up staying the night at my mom's house and came home this morning with the puppies. Jake went home last night to stay with the other doggies.

Ok so for some reason I can't use internet explorer to update the blog...I am on firefox right now and it seems to be publishing what I type. There have been a lot of changes here! This will be a long post with tons of NEW pictures!

Mocha had 6 puppies - 3 boys and 3 girls on April 7th. They spent the first week and a half with Mocha's guardian family, and came here last tuesday. Mocha is a great first time mom. She is very doting. Her puppies all have amazing straight fleece coats. The chocolate puppies are soooo dark too! Yesterday none of their eyes were open, and today they are fully opened! It is amazing how things can change so quickly. Here are some new pictures that I took today.

Lola and Mackenzie are getting really big. Lola looks like she has swallowed a beach ball her belly is so large. Today Lola got a bath and full grooming, Mackenzie got her pre-baby body shaving, Mona got a facial trim and ear clean, Maggie got a full brush out, face trim, ear cleaning...it was a busy grooming day! Sometimes when you are in the zone you just want to sit there and say "Next victim!" Here are some pictures of the girls today. We were sitting on the patio with them all. Please ignore the landscaping! We are tilling up the front and laying sod down shortly.

I've fallen behind in my postings this past month. Time flies by so fast! Already Choco and Licorice's puppies are going home (this weekend and next). It has been fun raising them...and at the same time, we are happy to see them go to their new families! They have been very easy puppies for us. They have the crate training down and because of the nicer weather, they know where the door is and just run outside when we call them all!

Miley had her hips and elbows tested and she came back OFA good and normal elbows! We also redid all of our dogs thyroid with OFA and they all passed! Every year we re-certify their eyes and every 18 months we recheck thyroids just as a precaution. With this developing breed and always trying to improve our own program, it is better to be safe than sorry. I also don't want any of my own dogs to have any issues!

Now for the doggie pregnancy updates! There are a few!

Mocha is due on April 11th. She has a big belly!

Lola is due on April 29th. She is starting to get a bit of a belly now.

Mackenzie is due on May 3rd. She is also starting to show.

JuJu is due on May 16th. Her attitude change is a sure sign of pregnancy! All she does is sleep now!

Missy is due on May 28th.

Minnie bred with Mickey last night so she is due on June 3rd.

Jersey is in heat and will breed to Mickey next week!

Most of Mona's puppies have now gone home. We have one puppy still available in the litter.

Choco/Chanel's puppies continue to get bigger! They are going to start eating some food later on this week/weekend.

Well, seeing as I wasn't able to do what I wanted to...this will have to do. We went for an ultrasound last week....no not a doggy ultrasound! Jake and I will have a new mouth to feed in July!!!

We are expecting a baby BOY on July 16th!!!

I wanted to scan and post the ultrasound pictures but I haven't figured out my new scanner yet and I can't keep the news in any longer!

Mackenzie cannot be outdone by her sister. She is in heat now too! Wow it will be a busy time in about 8-9 weeks! 3 litters born so close to each other. Knock on wood that Missy just waits about 3 weeks. That will spread things out a bit more. Somehow I doubt it though. I'm not that lucky.

yeah Lola is in heat! We have decided to breed her to Mowgley this time instead of the stud in California. Timing just isn't working out to get everything organized. So we will have chocolate standards from Lola and Mowgley. I will keep you updated on their upcoming breeding dates!

I'm sure that Mackenzie and Missy are going to follow shortly. I surprised that Mackenzie is waiting so long when her lifelong buddy is already getting started! Those two (Mack and Lola) don't do anything without the other. Last night I thought that they might like to sleep in different crates without one another (every once in a while you want more space in the bed!). Ya that lasted 5 minutes. They were both barking. As soon as I put them together, it was like a family reunion, and they both went right to sleep. Attached at the hip those two are! Huh...I just sounded like Yoda there!

There are exciting new developments happening at our house now. Once I get photos I will let you know exactly what is happening! For now everyone is in the dark! I can just see some minds spinning...what could possibly be happening here?!?!?!

Puppies are all doing well. Mona's went in for their first vaccines. Everyone got a clean bill of health. One of Molly's boys named Charlie will go home tomorrow. He is such a good boy!

We have a new litter of puppies here too. We have one of my mom's dogs named Choco/Chanel. She is Jersey's sister. We are now calling it the curse of East Side Marios. Chanel was due a week ago monday, and we had a family dinner planned at East Sides for the following sunday...when does she decide to have puppies? You guessed it! Just like Blaze last year, Chanel has puppies during the dinner so this year Jake stayed home with her and I got to go visit my family. My mom came home and ended up staying over until Wednesday while Katie went back home and looked after all of mom's doggies. It was a nice little visit. She brought Mighty with her just in case and that is why we are now having a dual sired litter (potentially) with Mocha. Here are Chanel's new babies!

Last night I stayed over in London, and with the university being so stupid, of course they didn't close the school. Everything else is closed, grade schools and high schools, but western remains open. Oh joy. I think that I might be stuck here tonight as well if it doesn't stop snowing. I don't want to risk it.

On a good note, Mocha came into heat! Yeah! She will be breeding with Mowgley for medium sized puppies in the 35-45 lb range, chocolates and possibly apricots. Fleece and wool coats expected. For those of you that don't remember, this is Mocha. She is such a dark dark chocolate colour.

Gosh that reminds me, I will have to get Mocha posted on the moms page. So much to do!! I promise that as soon as I get home tomorrow I will take new photos of Mona's babies and post them. They are so adorable. They are started on kibble and we are weaning them off of Mona now. It is difficult because she loves them so much. Most moms want to get out of their by now, but she is a die hard and just wants to be with her babies.

We have one of my mom's dogs named Choco at our house. She is Jersey's full sister but not littermate. She was due on sunday and we are just waiting for the puppies to come. She will have her litter at our house this time.

I've tried like 5 times over the last 2 weeks to post and it hasn't been working. No idea why!! Anyways...back to puppy talk!

Molly's puppies all had their spay/neuters on monday. They are doing very well. Some are set to go home this weekend and next. It will be quiet here for a while!

Mona's puppies have their eyes open and are starting to stumble around. Not much though. Mona keeps them very well fed so they don't move much at all. She is a great mother. She has this annoying habit though of putting the puppies underneath her bed. Sometimes she even forgets where they are and starts running around the house looking for them until we put them back on top of the bed! What a goof!!

We are playing the waiting game right now with Minnie, Missy, Lola and Mack...when will they be in heat!!

Tonight I am in London. The driving back and forth is very difficult this term because I cannot commute with a friend. We have totally opposite schedules this time. So I will stay over most tuesday nights. Jake is manning down the fort. He doesn't work tuesday nights so it works out perfectly.

She was in labor all night, but decided that a daytime delivery would be best for all. Thank goodness! I will have pictures of the puppies sometime tomorrow, as well as updated pictures of Molly's babies on tuesday or wednesday.

Mona has 6 puppies - 5 boys and 1 girl.

The first chocolate boy came at 11:20 am.
Then we got an apricot boy at 12:46 pm.
2 more chocolate boys at 1:09 pm and 1:45 pm
Finally a chocolate girl at 2:27 pm. She arrived outside. No you didn't misread that...I took Mona out for a pee and she popped out a puppy right on the snow bank! I quickly grabbed a towel and got the puppy inside.
And the last chocolate boy arrived at 3:07 pm.

So we have 5 chocolates (4 boys, 1 girl) and 1 apricot (boy). Mona is now all bathed and resting with the babies. She is a terrific mom.

I wanted to wish everyone a merry christmas! This is the first christmas that I am not sleeping over at my mom's house. Normally we stay there with our dogs over the holidays, but this year we just have to many to make the visit comfortable! What with Molly's 10 puppies, our crazy amount of dogs, an extra that we are babysitting....and of course fat Mona, who has decided that she is waiting to have her puppies. We call her the holiday crasher.

Last year she had to come with us to our in-laws for Easter, and this year she is tagging along for christmas. We are definitely not going to chance her having puppies without us here. So we will bring her to my mom's, then my aunts for dinner, and if she doesn't have them by boxing day, she will be going to my in-laws for christmas there too! After our easter dinner last year we came straight home and the puppies started coming just an hour later! She doesn't want to miss out on any family fun apparently!

And with Christmas comes more puppies! We are hoping for a christmas litter from Mona who is due any day now! Wouldn't that be exciting?! She is getting a little bit grumpy with the other dogs and doesn't want to play with them as much. That is very typical for a pregnant mom.

We have a puppy here for babysitting over christmas. She is having a blast playing with Miley and Macie. They are more her size so it works well!

Well this has definitely not been our month. Last friday I came home from school to find Molly acting very strange and not feeling well. Jake had been monitoring her for a few hours but something was just not right. As soon as I saw her, I knew that something was wrong. I rushed her to our vet where we had emergency surgery done. The surgery was just over 2 1/2 hours from start to finish. It was just our vet and myself who was there so I assisted when necessary. I called my mom right away and she came and got the puppies and took them to her house. They needed a mother dog to feed them, and if Molly pulled through she would not be capable. They are doing fine with my mom's dogs now and will be returning to us this weekend.

Molly is now on the mend. After the surgery to fix her stomach the vet said, we will see if she is alive in the morning. It was so tough to leave her there. The surgery was very invasive and there is a big chance that her body would not accept the changes at all, but she pulled through. She has been on heavy antibiotics and lots of pain medicine since then. Her incision is probably 20 cm long, maybe longer. She has 3 layers of dissolving stitches and then staples which will come out next week. Our vet is just shocked at how well she has recovered. She went in yesterday just for a checkup, and all is well.

The puppies are eating softened kibble right now. They have 2 adoptive moms, a golden retriever named Heidi and a goldendoodle named Leah. Both have puppies that are similar ages and both take turns feeding Molly's puppies.

Molly will be going back to her guardian family on the weekend. So that is what we have been dealing with! I will take new photos of the puppies when I get them back. I am so glad that I will be on christmas break starting on friday at 3 pm. This week has been dragging me down.

Finally this week is almost over! It has been so busy. I have not had time to do anything. Last weekend I posted new photos of Ginger and Cola's puppies on the website. I didn't get a change to post them here.

Molly's puppies are starting to walk around a lot more. They are starting to use their little voices. They currently have 2 surrogate mothers. If Molly is not sitting with them, then either Mona or Missy is. They both love little puppies to pieces. Miley is always in their pen playing with them too. She is quite gentle!

We weren't expecting a huge litter from Cola, just as long as they are all healthy that is fine with us! Cola had 2 chocolate girls and 1 apricot boy. All are doing well. Cola has her puppies right beside Ginger and Tink, so it just looks funny because each mom has a group of 3 babies with them!

I am visiting my mom on the weekend and I will have to take some photos of all of the puppies for the blog and website. Lots of updated pictures coming on saturday or sunday! Keep a look out.

Unfortunately the last puppy of Tink's did not make it. He passed away last night. Breeding is not easy at all. There are so many ups and downs. Thankfully, Tink doesn't seem to notice. She is happily raising 3 of Ginger's puppies. Both Ginger and Tink could raise their puppies in a community setting. They share everything and neither minds the other at all.

Cola is due shortly. She has been digging and digging all day. Trying to find the most comfortable spot. It won't be long now...hopefully she doesn't keep us waiting too long.

Unfortunately we have lost 3 of Tink's puppies. They were born too early according to our vet. The last one is still hanging on, but he doesn't look good. Tink is now nursing 3 of Ginger's puppies, and Ginger has 3 of hers plus Tink's last puppy. Thank-you for all of the kind thoughts. This has been very hard for us. I will post some pictures of Ginger's puppies in the next few days.

And our newest addition...my mom surprised me with this little one on saturday. She got her on wednesday and kept her tucked away until the weekend. In the midst of all of our issues with the new puppies born just a day after her arrival, I forgot to mention our new little Miley. She is doing very well though, and getting along famously with the big dogs here. She can definitely hold her own!

well, the last few days haven't gone as expected. Tinkerbelle's puppies are not doing very well for some reason. My mom and sister are giving around the clock care and there hasn't been much improvement.

It started on friday...they didn't seem to be drinking very much and were getting weaker. Tinkerbelle had 4 puppies, and a few hours later, Ginger had 6. Ginger's are prefectly fine...all fat and healthy, but Tink's are not. We have talked to the vet and he just says keep doing what we are doing.
Ginger has 6 apricot puppies - 4 boys and 2 girls.

Tink has 4 boys - 1 cream, and 3 brown and white partis. They look like holstein cows, but with brown spots not black. This was our first litter of partis, and it is not going so well. We are trying to be optimistic but it's not looking good.

Molly and babies are doing just fine. She is such a great mom. She is fine with a few of the dogs walking around but we keep a blanket near her babies so that we can give them some privacy if things get too rowdy in the living room! She doesn't like the others rough housing near her pen! I can't blame her!

We are still waiting for Tink and Ginger to have their puppies. They don't seem to be in any rush at all.

Tomorrow Finny will go back with his family. He has been here for babysitting for the last few weeks. Our dogs enjoy the extra playmate!

Mackenzie went home with her guardian family last night. I hope that everything works out and that she can become a big part of their family. When people adopt older dogs they must be aware of an adjustment period. Mackenzie for example has been with us since birth. We are her family and having another family take her was difficult for us, but in the end, I know that she will get a ton of attention and love. She is such an affectionate girl to begin with!

We are switching dog foods! After dealing with ear issues for the last year and seeing the change in a few of my mom's dogs on this new food, I have become a convert. I will get my first bags sometime this week. There is no corn or wheat, and there is 3 kinds of proteins. My mom switched Ginger and Prince (her 9 year old poodle) first and everyone could see the difference! For the past few years, Prince has really acted 'old'. He is a puppy again, and his ears are finally clean. He has always had really bad ears but now they are under control! Ginger was the same way...always a struggle to get her ears under control and now they are great! I hope that this will help Missy. As some of you have seen, Missy does not like to be touched on the head! This started about a year ago now and we have gone through every ear cleaner prescribed by a vet. I have even ordered different products from all over in an attempt to help her. She does not have dirty or hairy ears, but then vet can find no problem. But you can plainly see that something bothers her. I'm sure that this new food will fix her!

Yesterday was my birthday! Happy birthday to me. I'm not going to share any embarassing photos this time though! You have a lot of control when it's your blog!

Wow it has really gotten cold lately. I can't believe it.

Mowgley went home this past weekend. We also have a new visitor, Finnigan. He is back for babysitting. I'm very excited for our upcoming litters! Mona, Molly, Ginger, Cola, Tink....oh my gosh it's going to be busy! Cola, Ginger and Tink will be at my mom's house, but we are still deciding where Molly will raise her litter. I'm lobbying that she comes to me!

I finished my first teaching practicum on friday. It was so amazing. I loved teaching. It is definitely the place for me. I taught grade 11 biology - the genetics unit. I loved that unit and I was able to relate my own life into the work that we were doing. The kids were fascinated (or stunned!) that I had 7 dogs and that Jake and I breed. They were really getting into different traits and looking at different diseases. I gave them dog breeding case studies, which they really liked.

Today we took Missy in for an ultrasound. We wanted to verify what we had already been thinking and unfortunately we were right...no puppies for Missy this time around. What a pain! Meanwhile every other girl seems to be getting their baby belly.

Mona and Mowgley had a nice date this morning, so we are now expecting puppies from them at christmas time!

CERF clinic a big success!!

I know that I have been MIA recently. Thank-you for the flood of emails and calls that I have gotten about not posting here! Today was our annual CERF day at my mom's house. What a busy day. The vet was originally scheduled to arrive at 9am, but thankfully she called and moved it to 10 am. That gave a few extra people the change to get there. We had my dogs, my moms, and two other breeders dogs there. All in all, we had 50 doggies eye's tested! Everyone was clear! Such a relief.

Our guardian families all had a chance to meet in the driveway! I am so glad that we had most of our families there because it is great to see all of the dogs again.

I received my sculpture order from Rudkin Studio (see post below for link to her store). They are just beautiful! I love the frog things that I ordered.

Oh yes... and Mona came into heat! She is going to breed with Mowgley hopefully tomorrow or monday. He is ready to roll this time around, that is for sure!

Fur and Feather recap!!

Yesterday was our Fur and Feather day! It was the best fall weather we have had in years there. I'm not kidding. It was still really cold, but at least there was no rain, snow, hail, massive winds! I helped my dad sell some goats, rabbits, chickens, and pigeons. It was an awesome time. We didn't bring any of our dogs with us this time. Panda came with us in the spring, but I figured that I would have more work to do this year and I was right.

We were both so tired from the fur and feather (a big warning if you ever decide to go...you will be cold for the whole morning, and that makes you tired for the rest of the day!). When we came home we let the dogs outside and played with them. They all came in and watched some TV with us too. After that, it was homework time for me!

goodbyes are always hard...

Last night Molly went to her new guardian family. Molly was born and raised with my mom, often coming and staying at my house as well. She is 4 1/2 years old. We know that you can't keep everything, but it is always hard. I'm sure that she will be just fine, though I still worry! She will have a ton of attention in her new home though.

We have our annual eye clinic coming up on October 23rd. Emails have already gone out to guardian families. Every year we have our dogs checked for any eye problems. It is the same as one of us going and seeing an eye doctor. Just a check up. Last year was a great success, though extremely rushed! Everyone passed with flying colors, and we expect the same this year. The eye clinic will be held at my mom's house at 9am saturday morning. I will be bringing all of my doggies and staying overnight on friday so that we can be all ready. My mom makes a darkroom in her hallway by hanging sheets in the doorway. After drops are administered to the dogs, they each see the vet and have their eyes examined for any abnormalities. Eyes are ever changing, so testing once a year really helps us to see if there is anything worrisome cropping up in our lines. So far, we are all clear!

I totally forgot to post over this last week (thank-you Kim for reminding me in your email!)! It has been a pretty uneventful week anyways. Just lots of work at school, and then back at home as well. On friday I had my first placement day in a highschool. I am at Sir John A Macdonald in Waterloo. It was amazing! I will be teaching grade 11 and 12 biology after thanksgiving. We are at the school for 3 straight weeks. I am very excited about it.

Next week is one of my 'killer' weeks. I don't find teacher's college to be really hard work...just a lot of work, and a ton of reading. You really have to keep up on the readings or else you would just get so far behind in class!

All of this rain is just driving me nuts. This has to be the rainiest fall ever! Oh mister sun, sun, mister golden sun, please shine down on me!! And by me, I mean...dry up my muddy backyard!

All of our dogs are pretty much groomed down now. Maggie was scissor trimmed, Missy is still growing out from the summer, Mona had her body shaved, head all trimmed up, Mackenzie had a shave over a month ago now so she is looking less and less bald everyday. Lola was done 2 weeks ago now. She had her body shaved, and thanks to Macie's insane ear grabbing, I did her ears as well. It will all grow back. Right now it just means that everyone takes a much shorter time to dry off!

Macie is growing more and more everyday. She is a tyrant that is for sure! She has mastered jumping onto the couch, and she can jump onto our bed now too, which is double the height for sure. Of course, with her ADD she doesn't stay in one spot for very long. There is always something new that she can rip up or a pair of shoes that she can bring to me.

On saturday night Lola had a case of "the grass is greener on the other side". I was inside reading and had just let the dogs out for a pee and didn't feel like walking out there with them right then. They always get into trouble when you're least expecting it. I wanted to finish my chapter! Not even 5 minutes later I walk outside and the dogs are all standing at the back fence...but one dog doesn't look like she is on the proper side! Lola had dug a little hole and was running around in the neighbors garden (which is thankfully all tilled up for the year). They weren't home then and I couldn't get her back through her hole. Jake was out for a run and I couldn't hop the fence very well...and god forbid I get stuck in someone else's yard! So I called Tyler and Jess and they came right over. Tyler just hopped right over and passed Lola to me. The people weren't home and no one else noticed. Our little secret I guess!

Today I went to tutor for a family in Rockwood. As I got out of the car a family and their dog were walking towards me. I knew right away that it was a labradoodle...and she looked very familiar! I met up with one of Madelyn and Koby's puppies named Holly! Holly is Minnie's full sister. Such a small world!

Tomorrow is my first day in a highschool classroom as a teacher candidate. I am so excited...maybe a little nervous! I will be teaching my first practicum block at Sir John A Macdonald in Waterloo, ON.

This weekend I have a lot of reading and projects to work on that is for sure! We have a few families coming to visit the dogs, and we are babysitting one of Lola's puppies - Maia.

Well, off to bed. I am dead tired from waking up every day and driving to London. That is such a long drive back and forth everyday. I am counting down the weeks until I graduate again!

This weekend was spent visiting family. On saturday Jake and I and all of the dogs went to my mom's house. We made a pit stop on the way to breed Missy with Solo one more time. Good thing it was quick because the other dogs were patiently waiting in the car!

We stayed over at my mom's house for the night. Today we drove back home and then went to Jake's mom's house for lunch. I went out with my sister-in-laws and mother-in-law to a broadway show (Guys and Dolls) and the boys all went golfing.

We were running around so much this weekend that I didn't get any homework done so now I have a ton of reading tomorrow.

This evening, Mowgley was picked up by his guardian family as well. It feels like we have no dogs at all now! Molly stayed with my mom...reluctantly I might add. She really wanted to come back with us and was pacing in the front hall while we were loading the others into the truck. She fits in easily wherever she goes.

I updated the upcoming litters page of the site to reflect the moms and dads who are expecting! It will be a busy christmas, that is for sure!

Finally! Mowgley has decided that he can be up for the job. Missy and Molly are both in heat, and his girlfriend is absolutely Molly. So Molly and Mowgley are expecting an all chocolate litter on November 17th. The funny thing is though, Mowgley really likes his privacy. His is in the yard with his girls, and we have to peek out the window to see what is going on. We can't make a sound or be spotted by him. He sure made it difficult this time!

With Missy however, that is a different story. I am pretty sure that Jake is on his way to visit another breeder with Missy. Mowgley has no interest, and time is running out. With luck, Missy and Solo will have a repeat litter on November 18th. They will be chocolates and creams.

As my mom put it...like mother, like daughter. Tinkerbelle is now in heat. I just like to say that when it rains, it pours, because now there are 4 girls in heat all within one week. At first I really wanted Mona to come into heat, now I'm hoping that she holds off another few weeks, and my mom is thinking the same thing with Cola!

Well, the triatholon went really well. Jake finished in under an hour! He really liked it and said that he would definitely do it again. It was really fun to watch them. I'm so mad that I forgot my camera. I ended up using my friends camera but the delay is so bad! I got a few photos of everyone of our friends who was in it, and I will post them when they are sent to me. It started off as a cooler day, but it warmed up nicely. Everyone was so tired by the end of the day...I stayed up the latest, and that was only until 11pm when Jaws 3 was over.

Sunday was spent lazing around the cottage. We got back home pretty late and I caught up on some emails from the weekend. Today was a busy day at our house though for dog drop offs...luckily I'm not there so Jake is handling it all! Mowgley was being dropped off, Finny for babysitting, and my mom was bringing back our crew of dogs plus one of her own! This morning we had 0 dogs at the house and we should have 10 by now! Well, let me tell you...it is hard to get back into the swing of school. I am at Western everyday from 8:30-6:30 plus driving there and back everyday. It is a long day. There is barely anytime to do anything at home anymore. Tonight I am off early...my only salvation this semester is wednesdays (home at 4), and Jake is making steaks for dinner!

Surprisingly, I met someone at Guelph who also commutes everyday! We compared our schedules and started driving together this week. It is great. Funny coincidence....his wedding anniversary is June 6th, 2009 as well! I found it odd that I met the one person who commutes from Guelph, and we got married on the same day last year.

It seems like such a normal thing now for me to pack a lunch and get my water bottle ready... but so odd at the same time! The dogs are adjusting to life without me during the day. I'm sure that I miss them more than they miss me. At least they have Jake here with them. Yesterday Jake took my car in to get fixed and biked the 16 km home. That's dedication.

Nothing else is new with the doggies. No heat cycles this week. They sure do keep you guessing. Well, I should get going. My ride will be here in 5 minutes...

Today was my 2nd day of school. I got caught in a huge rain storm driving to work, but made it just in time for classes. When there are only 20 kids in some of your classes...and they take attendance...they notice who is missing! I met someone today who also commutes from Guelph, so hopefully our schedules will match up and we can car pool. That will be sooo much easier.

I have to go shopping for 'business casual' clothing for my practicum days. I hardly own any dressy clothes. One pair of pants, a skirt, and like 3 dressy tops. My mom will love this kind of shopping! I however hate it! I spend a total of 10 weeks at highschools in the Waterloo region.

The dogs are surviving their days without me. Jake is home all day so they aren't alone. I do get quite the greeting though when I come home! It's nice to know that I was missed! Tomorrow is a yard cleanup day so that I can take some pictures of our new fence and patio set. It looks so nice!

Today was my first day of school. I am attending Western for teacher's college. My teachables are biology and general science at the highschool level. It was a long drive and I can just see this is going to be a difficult 8 months. But I just keep saying that it's only 8 months. Hopefully they will be able to adjust my schedule on tuesday because I don't know if this one is doable with all of my students that I tutor and my life with the doggies.

On tuesday night we had a tragic accident. Molly, our puppy that we kept from Blaze and Philosopher's litter was hit by a car and killed. It happened so fast. I'm just beside myself. She was such a sweetheart of a dog. Always wiggling and super excited to see everyone.

Lola is also not pregnant. She had an ultrasound done on monday to confirm our own suspicions. It has not been a very good week at all. It is times like these were I just hug my doodles and try to move on. A dog brings so much comfort and joy and I can't imagine living without a dog anymore. I don't remember a time without one ever. Even when we are on vacation it is so difficult. I always wonder how they are doing....and I know that they miss me, because my mom always tells me that they are mopey. They cheer right up as soon as we pull in the driveway.

Life goes on right....

Jake is running in a mini-triatholon next saturday. He has been training very hard. My mom will babysit our dogs again next weekend.

Amber will be going to her guardian home on saturday. Her she is in all her glory! Macie will definitely miss her tackling buddy.

Yesterday Jake and I wanted to go swimming so we drove out to the Elora gorge. The water was sooooo cold (not my thing) and it started raining the second we put our towels down, so we left right away. There were some die hards kids there. That would have been me when I was a child too, but not anymore!

Hopefully we will have all of the fence finished tomorrow, with the exception of the gates. It looks great! Tomorrow afternoon I'm heading to my mom's with my entourage of doggies. They are staying with her for the weekend while Jake and I head up to Jess and Tyler's cottage for the weekend.

Jake is signed up for a mini-triatholon on September 11th. He has been training hard, running and biking every day. We will get a lot of swimming done this weekend. Tyler is also signed up for it. Jess and I will be cheering them on from the sidelines.

My mom joked that she is mentally preparing for my dogs arrival. Hopefully this little trip will bring Mona and Missy into heat!

Wow yesterday was very busy! Fudgie went home with her new family in the morning. Afterwards I took Maggie with me to my mom's house. My mom is away for a few days so I'm babysitting her dogs until tonight, and then another family is coming to take over until Tuesday. They are a guardian family of my mom's and they have been here many times! I'm sure that everything will be fine. Yesterday though it rained about an hour after my mom, brother, and sisters all left! It rained all afternoon, evening and night. You can imagine what that does to the dogs! My mom's old poodle Prince hates this kind of weather and he always sticks right to your leg or stays in a spot where there is no windows. The little dogs don't want to go outside even for a quick potty break, and my mom's poodles who are supposed to be white, look brown! She will be so happy! A lot of people think that poodles are dainty dogs who hate dirt. Ya right. Not the standards, that is for sure! If there was one tiny mud puddle in a field, they would find it and roll through it. Her poodle Vegas is the worst for that. Her whole face is almost black, all up her legs. I wipe it off with a towel and the next time she goes outside she looks just as bad. Oh great, I'm just looking outside into the yard right now and one of the pails that I filled up with water is being dragged around the yard by Vegas.

All of the morning doggy and puppy chores are done now though. Phewwww! She has 4 older puppies, which we refer to as Barney and friends. One puppy is named Barney by his new owners, and the other 3 are my mom's future girls. They are 3 and 4 months old now and so adorable! My mom took this photo last week of them.

In front is Barney. At the back from left to right is Punkin, Molly, 2 doodle puppies that have gone home now, and the brown girl is No Name. So far we haven't found a name that fits her. She is Macie's big sister.

This is Molly again. We call her Big Molly, or Blaze Molly. She is Blaze and Philosopher's baby girl!

Ahhhhh....life is so hard!

Jake is happily manning the fort at home. He called yesterday to tell me that he worked through the rain to clean out our shed and doggy room. Washed out all of the crates. He even vacuumed! Jake thinks that vacuuming is a waste of time when you can just sweep it up! I'm telling you...it's not the same!

I was just thinking of doing a roll call here at my mom's house but it would scare people lol! She's a bit of a collector. Haley says that now she mostly just collects mini labradoodles. Her sleeping buddies. Last night I slept in my mom's room with Ginger and Muppet on the bed. Prince, Tasha and Maggie were on the floor. Usually mom has a couple others in the bedroom as well, but I had them sleep in their crates last night. I'm such a meanie!

My dad came home from his fishing vacation on thursday, so he came down to visit, and we went out for lunch. Today is my mom's birthday! Happy birthday Mom! Love you! Lucky friday the 13th.

Fudgie is doing very well with her training. She has mastered playing fetch and bringing the ball right back to us. She loves it...but will definitely do anything for a treat! She is asleep beside Macie right now in the living room. They are constantly wrestling each other. When raising 2 puppies at once, it is best to separate them for short times to work on their training individually. Otherwise the are just interested in playing with each other! It isn't hard. Just 10 or 15 minutes of individual time each, a few times a day. Makes life so much easier! House training...now that they are learning together. And the star student is definitely Fudgie. Macie for some reason, still doesn't get the full concept of the crate. Whereas, Fudgie has had that mastered since 6 weeks old. Both of them know that they have to do their business outside! Yesterday and today though, no accidents for either of them! We just let them out in the front yard with us. Neither of them have any interest in going far from the house. The fence isn't up yet, but they do not run away or anything like that. They don't go past my vegetable garden and come right back when they are called. They really like to just stay right with us, which is great.

long update

Wow...this is going to sound like a broken record...our phone line doesn't work AGAIN! Bell had better give us some compensation this time. It has gone down way too much over the last few months.

So on friday we had our couch delivered....that didn't work out very well. Having never bought furniture before, I didn't know that they are actually supposed to unpack it, check for obvious tears, put the legs on it and put it where you want it! The delivery guys on thursday didn't even try to unpack the loveseat, just left it for me in the middle of the living room so I really didn't know any different! So on friday, the couch was left the same way. When Jake got home, he started ripping the box because I hadn't started yet, and the bottom of the couch is all scuffed and ripped open! What the heck?! He called wondering if we are getting the scratch and dent couches! So they said that we can use it until saturday when another couch will come. We didn't even bother and just left it there upside down, the same way that they left it for us.

On saturday we had 3 delivery people show up. They took the ripped couch, brought a new one, and unpacked it completely, put the legs on it. Then they put the legs on the loveseat too because we said the other guys didn't. What an ordeal. I set everything up like I wanted after I gave everything a good cleaning. We've had stuff all over the place and out of order trying to get this furniture in the door, and dealing with ripped ones right in the middle of the living room! Finally, order is restored.

Friday we set half of the posts for the picket fence, and on saturday we were going to continue with that but Jake's brother Wil called and said that he could come and help with the fascia, so Jake figured that would be best. Jake ripped off all of our old eavestrough and the two of them worked together to finish most of the work. We ran out of supplies so maybe this week we will have to get another roll of fascia and finish. That will really complete the look of the house. My vision is really starting to take shape! I have this dream in my mind of what I want it all to look like, and we are slowly getting there! On friday night we had dinner with our best friends Jess and Tyler. It was quite a long day!

Today it was sortof rainy and neither of us felt like working through the rain, so we decided to go and visit my mom. We went there with one of our puppies Macie and Maggie. We went to my sister's soccer game too and then went for a quick visit to my aunt's house. On the way home we stopped at my Grandma's for a few minutes. Gosh it was a busy day for not wanting to do much! Now we are home and Jake and the doggies are fast asleep. I'm just going to finish editing my mom's website and I'm off to bed too!

I promise, pictures of Fudgie, Storm, Karma and Macie will be put up either monday or tuesday when I take them! Those are the 4 puppies that are here with us now.

new furniture!

Jake and I went furniture shopping yesterday...specifically for a couch and a loveseat. The couch that we had was given to us by my grandma, and it was already quite old. It lasted another 4 years with us! Gotta love that leather! We have always found it difficult to have friends over when we only have the 1 couch to sit on. Normally we bring in camping chairs and our kitchen chairs for people, but now we have a loveseat too! So this morning we got the delivery, but it didn't go as planned. The delivery guys brought the loveseat in first, and then said that the couch was quite damaged because the packaging was ripped on one side and the leather all cut up. So now we have a new couch coming tomorrow, and hopefully it will be in perfect condition! It's kindof bittersweet, because neither Jake or I have purchased a new couch while on our own. So this is our own stuff! I will get a picture of both the couch and loveseat once we figure out how we will fit them both in the living room! We can only have 100% leather with the dogs. Our dogs are always on the furniture. We have always allowed them on our furniture, so stopping it now would be weird. We don't mind it anyways. We got a soft leather and it doesn't show scratches or anything, which is great!

Tomorrow, one of Molly and Solo's puppies named Benji will be going to his new home. He is so adorable!

We were babysitting one of my mom's past labradoodle puppies for the last few days. Her name is Amber. She was picked up by her owners last night. Tomorrow, one of Jersey's puppies is coming back for the weekend - little Victoria!

Jake has really started construction on our front picket fence. He dug half of the fence posts, and tomorrow we will be picking up all of the material and setting the posts on one side. We have eaten outside on our patio almost every night this week.

Yesterday we went to a pool party at one of my mom's friends homes. It was a great time. They had this hilarious cockatoo that just kept screaming when she was getting mad. Apparently their neighbors have complained that the bird gets too loud. My mom brought one of her puppies and I took him home so that I could take him to the airport this afternoon. He is currently on route to San Francisco! He had a good time at the pool party and even went swimming! He kept coming back in the pool for more too!

On friday, Lola's special present arrived from California. We went to the vets as soon as we got the call. Lola was artificially inseminated on friday! She has another appointment on sunday at 9 am to be inseminated again by our vet. Our fingers are crossed that we have a successful breeding! We should know for sure in about a month.

We have 2 puppies here still. Storm who is still looking for his new home, and Fudgie, who we are keeping for her owners until they are back from vacation. They are like partners in crime. You don't see one without the other! They are doing so well with their house training too. We haven't had accidents at night time for weeks, and during the day it is the same thing. We had an accident yesterday, but that was my fault completely. I saw Storm get up from his nap but I just wanted to finish folding the last bit of laundry...well he gave me his warning, and I ignored it! Darn!

We just had a family cancel on one of Molly's puppies. The owners just got a brand new job posting onboard a ship, and she doesn't think it is fair to the puppy to be away for the first few months. She will now be taking a puppy next fall. In the meantime, this beautiful chocolate boy is now available! We have been calling him Benji.

Yeah!!! I just realized that we finally get to pick up our patio set today! I was very picky when it came to finding one I liked. I didn't want chairs with cushions or a glass table...it's practically taken us all summer to find it! We found a set with a tile table top, and matching chairs with no cushions!! I'm just not diligent enough to keep the cushions out of the rain, put them in a storage box when we are done etc...not me at all!

Mowgley went home today. His family was very happy to see him, and Mowgley had an equally happy reaction to seeing them! It was very fun having him here. He was no problem at all. We had a rotation system going on between him and the girls in heat so that there were no accidents. That's all we needed! e definitely enjoyed staying here and playing with all of his girlfriends though!

We had to cancel the vet appointment on tuesday, and it was rescheduled for this morning at 8 am. Mowgley had his OFA hips, elbows and thyroid testing. Missy and Mona came for their annual vaccinations. Everyone was great.

Missy weighed 43 lbs, and Mona weighed 34 lbs. Mowgley was 37 lbs. Right in the middle.

Lola had her progesterone test on monday, and we are now having her AI'd on friday, saturday and monday. The weekend makes everything difficult but oh well. Fingers are crossed that we have puppies! We have done 3 AI's before...we are 2 for 3 so far. Ginger has been AI'd twice, and we only got 3 puppies one time, none the second, and Blaze has been AI'd and we got 8 puppies. I prefer natural matings as does my mom. We are both old school apparently. But that seems to be the best success for us. Our dogs always get bred that way!

I trimmed Missy's face up today...made a little mistake so she looks a little odd. I took too much off from the hair under her eyes. I don't know why I went that far. Scissor happy I guess. Oh well, it will grow back. At least she can see us now! I trimmed her beard too because I don't like a big drippy wet beard. It looks cleaner this way.

Today Lola went in and had progesterone testing done. We are trying to determine the best day for artificial semination. We will get the results tomorrow.

Tomorrow I am going back to the vet for Mowgley's OFA thyroid testing. Missy and Mona are also coming with me to get their yearly vaccinations. I should just sleep in the vet's parking lot with how often I am there! My mom is taking in a litter of puppies tomorrow to be spayed and neutered so she will be there too.

I think it's impossible! On Friday night Jake went to bed and took all of the dogs with him. Because he works nights, he goes to sleep around 7 or 8pm. We've been trying to organize a new doggy schedule because normally I bring them all to bed around 10 or 11pm and then they all jump on him and wake him up! So this time he took them to bed, and I came later. First his alarm went off at 12 am...I hear that, and I hear the snooze button every time it goes off! The dogs however don't care because it is still dark out and on their watch, that means sleeping time. Like an hour later I woke up because Mona started puking up a cloth. How wonderful! Then around 4:00 am Missy decided that she would start kicking me in the back while she stretched out beside me. Finally, all was quiet until 6:30 am when the 4 bedroom dogs decided that it was time to get up. Their wake plan is so much fun. I wake up because 2 dogs are lying right on top of me, 1 is staring right at me, and the other is licking me in the face. Uuuuggghhhhh!

It's ironic...friday night was the only night that Mona didn't sneak a toy into the bedroom and start squeaking it at all hours of the night! A welcomed relief.

Saturday was an extremely busy day for us. We had 2 of Jersey's puppies and 1 of Molly's puppies go home. I also hosted a tupperware party with friends and family. All of the boys went golfing in the rain for the day! It was definitely early to bed for Jake and I. Mona slept in between us on my pillow and Missy at our feet. Maggie and Mowgley on their dog beds. Everyone was surprisingly quiet until morning....6:49 am!

This evening we are going to my cousin Michael's birthday party.

Everyday here is like taking your dog to the dog park and having him meet his buddies. Our dog park is our back yard, and our doodles and Panda all love each other. They play the same games and never get tired of it. Occasionally lying down in the pool, and always trying to steal the kongs and squeaky toys from one another. Lola just likes to run around the yard squeaking them to drive the others nuts. Mowgley is obsessing over Panda. She's not even in heat but that's the girl he likes the best! The oddball for sure.

This morning I took Java to the airport for her flight to Timmins. She didn't let out one peep when I had to put her in the crate and send her off with the airport staff. What a great puppy! We are now down to only 4 puppies here. 2 more leave on saturday morning.

Our bedroom is now the dog's room. It is funny how things change. When I met Jake, he was adamant about NO dogs in the bedroom. Maggie however, had been sleeping on my bed since she was just a few weeks old! She's going to be 7 this fall. I would not kick her out of the bedroom, so we compromised and I bought her a blue bed, which we call her throne. A few months after Jake and I got married, he thought that Mona would be so cute sleeping in the bedroom too, and she's small! So Mona joined us. She slept either at my head or on my feet. And about a month ago, Jake gave me the sad puppy dog look to bring his Missy into the bedroom too. Missy has not slept one minute on the floor and takes up a lot of the bed space and is usually cuddling with Jake (she is seriously attached at the hip to him). Now Mowgley is visiting and his guardian mom told me that he sleeps in the bedroom and she brought his blanket and pillow with him. Somehow we have made room for a 4th in there. The room is 10' x 10'. And we have a double bed, armoire, shelving unit, big dresser, nightstand, storage bench and a laundry hamper. The room is packed! Now put 2 people, 4 dogs, and all of the dog beds, pillows and toys in there (sometimes Mona squeaks the toys in the night). I can't tell you how many times I've woken up with a hard kong toy and a marrow bone underneath my pillow. Such a wonderful sleep! The dog's are so content though that when Jake gets up for work every night around 12:30-1:00am, they aren't getting up or moving for anything!

My goal is to have Panda in our room once we can fully trust her. She is still a puppy and always trys to chew our comforter or pillows! Mackenzie and Lola are quite content in their massive crate together though. We tried to leave them out of it and have them sleep in the living room, but they paced and paced and kept scratching to open their crate door. I woke up one night to whining, and there they were...sitting infront of their crate trying to get in it! Whatever floats your boat I guess! Wow this is a novel...I better get back to letting the dogs all out before bedtime.

The phones are working now! As it turns out, our phones got zapped in the lightning storm on sunday night. We figured that, but when we went out and bought new ones, they weren't working either. So we called Bell. They came out and found out that our filters were also zapped and useless. Oh well, it's all fixed now.

Well, our house has definitely been nutty these past few days. Yesterday the doggie roll call was...

Maggie, Mackenzie, Lola, Missy, Mona, Panda....all the regulars.

Plus, we had Sanka here for babysitting, and Mowgley came for babysitting as well...oh and we have 5 puppies here too still! Today Sanka left with his family. He was so happy to see them again!

And because Mackenzie and Lola have to do everything together, now Mackenzie is in heat! So we have Mack and Lola in heat, and Mowgley here who is not neutered. And none of them are dating this time around. So this should be fun!

We haven't seen Mowgley since December, and my has he changed! He is gorgeous! He used to have a white face, brown body...now he's all white! Considered a lavender color, which is even lighter than parchment.

And this was Mona this morning...trying to pretend that she didn't rip up a toy, but we see the evidence!

Tomorrow, Java (one of Jersey's puppies) is flying to Timmins, Ontario. The family is finally going to meet their little girl!

Today also, Jake took our truck in for new tires. Now he doesn't have to put air in one of the tires every single day! It was getting rediculous, and definitely a priority on the list of things that need to be done. He is going to show those tires off to everyone now! I can just see it!

We wish them well in their new homes...Carma, Harvey and Charlie. I know that there families will enjoy them just like we have! Tomorrow Ava will go home.

Today Jake completed 90% of our side doggy yard. Since moving the fence on one side, we had to move all of our 'dog patio' stones over. The puppies like to get in the way when stuff like that is going on. Always curious. But our big dogs have seen it all happen before and they are content to watch. Occasionally bringing the ball to Jake for fetch. The simple life of a dog!

I am mostly done my tutoring for the summer. Just a few of my families are requesting tutoring during the summer. The rest are starting up again in the fall. It is a nice break for me too!

Finally Lola is in heat! Only 2 months late! Dogs definitely have their own time. All it took was a nice visit at my mom's house with JuJu who is also in heat. She has only been there for 3 days too! Now comes the tricky part...we are doing artificial insemination with a dog who is in California. We have to do progesterone testing to see when exactly is the right day for AI. It is all about timing now. And hopefully, we will have puppies in about 10 weeks!

The puppies had a really great day today. They all took a nice swim in the water bowl! How wonderful! We have water lovers for sure! They are having their little nap this evening, and will get their final meal of the day later on. When it is hot outside, they don't eat in the afternoon, so we move our feedings to later in the night. That is very normal for a litter of puppies...and also our adult dogs are the very same! But everyone likes to go for a nice dip in the kiddie pool in the middle of the day.

Today was a really long day. Jake got a call from my dad last night asking if he could work today...well today started at 3:30 am for my dad and Jake! He got home at 9:30 pm! Talk about a long work day. I've been at home with the doggies all day. For the past 3 hours I've been going over course registration for the fall. I'm going back to university to get my bachelors of education. It will be a long commute for me, which I have tried and tried not to make every day, but no matter which way I put my classes, I still have to go to London every day! I must say...Western has the worst website to follow. When I went to Guelph, it was much easier to find my way around their website and pick courses. There is 3 different spots to sign in online at Western, and they still are sending emails to my Guelph account! It's rediculous. I called them on the phone a few weeks ago and even told them that they have the most rediculous system for students. They haven't even sent me a bill yet, but they tell you it has to be paid in August! You would think that is the first thing that they would send you! It is just soooo frustrating.

Well...if you have gotten this far, let me just tell you that the puppies are now fast asleep. They rebounded from their spays/neuters just like champs. No one felt it today, and they were all running around like normal. Nothing slows these puppies down!

Tomorrow I am going to my mom's to take photos of all of her puppies. Lola is going to come with me and stay at my moms for a few days. Hopefully this will bring her into heat! She is way over due! It usually helps if she is around other dogs in heat, and my mom has 1 girl in heat so hopefully she can help Lola!

Jersey's puppies are at the vet right now getting spayed/neutered. They all just sat on the seat for the drive over there. I will probably pick them up around 1:00. It seems like it is going to rain today...we will just have to wait and see!

I wanted to start scheduling puppy pick up times for this weekend for Jersey's puppies. Please email me when you would like to come and take home your puppy. I have to make flight arrangements for Java. She will be flying out sometime next week.

We are babysitting one of Mackenzie's puppies named Sanka. Boy he is big! He is being very gentle with all of the puppies....he saves his rough housing for Panda!

What a relaxing weekend! I don't like to put a lot of sun screen on so I always pay for it with a sun burn. But it was a great weekend spent with friends.

The dogs were all happy to see us, wagging their tails and competing for tummy rubs as soon as we got in the door. Everyone is great. The couple of puppies that weren't feeling so good last week are all back to normal, which is great!
